E.& J. Gallo Winery ranks top 15 on list of best places to work in 2018
Finding a job you love is not easy to do.
The workplace can greatly impact a person's quality of life, for better or worse. There are companies that understand the importance of keeping their employees happy and go through lengths to make sure their environment is desirable.
Some companies do this better than others.
Employment review website, Glassdoor, released this week their 2018 Best Places to Work list. The annual rankings are based off employee reviews and ratings.
Facebook took the number one spot on the list of 'Large Employers' for the third time in the 10 years since it's been published. It's the eighth consecutive time the social media network has landed on the list overall.
The tech company is known for its incredible perks including free meals and snacks, onsite health and dental centers, laundry services and four months of paid parental leave.
Also on the top of the list is Modesto-based E. & J. Gallo Winery. The family-owned wine company ranked number 14, beating out other big names in the top 30 such as Salesforce, LinkedIn, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines.
The company has been a staple of the Central Valley since the 1930s and is now a leading provider of California wines across the globe. E. & J. Gallo Winery has a 4.3 overall rating with a 99 percent approval rate of the CEO, Joe Gallo. Senior Vice President and general manager of the company's premium wine division, Roger Nabedian, was named 2017 Wine Executive of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
Employee reviews praise a "great work culture" with competitive salaries and benefits.
"When you work at Gallo you really feel as though you are part of the family." said a current senior designer on a review. "They make sure you are taken care of, have a great work/life balance and the tools not only to succeed at work but also succeed in life."
Other notable companies ranking in the top 30 are In-N-Out Burger at number four and Academy Mortgage-- which has a branch in Sacramento-- at number 18.
The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints trailed right behind Academy Mortgage at spot 19. While not in the top 30, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants ranks 37 on the list. The new Kimpton Sawyer Hotel as been a hot location since opening in October at the Downtown Commons (DOCO).
