Red Rabbit to host Christmas pop-up bar for holiday season
It's the holiday season and a lot of people are looking for really fun and cool stuff to do. Well, we have just the answer!
Miracle on 9th street, the massively popular Christmas pop-up bar that started in New York in 2014, is now here in Sacramento. The organizers of the event in New York decided to expand the Christmas pop-up bar concept to over 50 locations around the world.
Lucky for us, our very own Red Rabbit in Midtown was tapped to host the month-ong party here in Sacramento. So of course, I popped by to get a preview of their specialty Christmas-spectacular drink menu and their new holiday décor.
Devin, the bartender, showed me how to make three of the specialty cocktails on their menu: the Run Run Rudolph (think cold adult-friendly hot chocolate), the Christmapolitan (a twist on the cosmopolitan) and the Jingle Ball Nog (their take on the classic egg nog).
Fun fact: the Jingle Ball Nog is a "flip style" cocktail. That means that it contains a full egg! The limited edition menu contains 10 cocktails and two shots: one naughty and one nice!
All of the drinks come in collectable glasses that you can buy at the bar with 10 perecent of the proceeds going to Action Against Hunger. However, according to Red Rabbit owner Matt Nurge, the drinks are only part of the experience.
"It’s really about being with your friends and celebrating the holidays together. Imagine the best Christmas party you've ever been to and being able to go every night for 24 nights! It's like that - it's amazing!" he said.
The Miracle pop-up bar will be at Red Rabbit everyday through the end of the year from 3 p.m. to close.
