His co-workers describe him as passionate and always optimistic. Students say Tim Allen's class at Lincoln High School is always entertaining as well as informative.
"I think that learning is fun," chemistry teacher Tim Allen says.
Allen has been teaching at the Lincoln (Placer County) high school for eight years. He finds explaining and demonstrating chemistry concepts to students rewarding.
"I really love learning. I was always tutoring kids when I was young so teaching kids was an actual fit for me," Allen says.
His passion for the subject developed from one of his own high school teachers, a retired NASA scientist.
"He made the science come alive. One thing about chemistry is you can't really touch an atom or a molecule but he made it come to life."
Allen says he tries to make students feel comfortable in the classroom, believing learning doesn't always have to be uptight and quiet. He says the best way for students to learn is if they experience chemistry hands-on.
In his spare time, Allen enjoys spending time with his young son, jogging and playing tennis.
