A 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital by helicopter after a hit-and-run Tuesday evening.

According to deputies, just after 5 p.m. 29-year-old Felix Wilkerson was speeding around 75 mph when he struck another vehicle at Patterson Road and Snedigar Road and drove away.

Other drivers began to follow Wilkerson to Eleanor Avenue, where he drove off of the road and into a pasture. Citizens kept the driver there until deputies arrived.

A woman and two children where inside the struck vehicle. One of the children, a 4-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital with a head injury, via helicopter. There is no update on her condition at this time.

The woman and second child were also taken to a local area hospital for treatment.

Wilkerson has been charged with felony hit-and-run and reckless driving.
