An investigation led to a suspect arrest after reports of checks cashed which were stolen from mailboxes, said the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday, a report was put in about checks being cashed from stolen residence mailboxes at local businesses in the Quincy area.
The complaint led to an investigation where sheriff deputies found the suspect had $499.60 from passed five checks at several businesses. One business owner wrote down the license plate of the suspect on the back of the check.
The suspect was identified as Laurrissa Ballow after that information and surveillance video from another business helped with the investigation.
A deputy contacted Ballow who did admit to passing the checks and was taken into custody at the Plumas County Jail. She faces charges of forgery and petty theft with priors.
