An Eastern Alamance High school student is a star on and off the football field.

Eliza Krans, the varsity team's only girl player, was named this year's Homecoming Queen. The senior says she started playing football in middle school to prove to everyone she could do it.

"At first, it was kind of like, wait a minute. Is she serious about this? Now, it's just grown to a part where I'm just part of the team," said Krans. "For a lot of the guys, they've never been on a team that either I wasn't on or didn't have a girl in it."

At the homecoming game, Krans switched into her homecoming gown for the ceremony to get her crown. After the crowning, Krans got back into her helmet and back on the field to kick an extra point.
