One person was injured after Howe Avenue Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon amid reports of shots fired and a car collision in the area, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

A call came into the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department at approximately 1:30 p.m. regarding shots fired and a vehicle collision near Howe Avenue and El Camino Avenue. During the incident, a suspect drove the wrong way on Howe Avenue, according to the sheriff's department.

One person suffered non-life threatening injuries, officials said. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

As a precaution, Howe Avenue Elementary School was temporarily on lockdown. It has since been lifted.
