SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Forecasters predict a strong spring storm that will pass through northern California has the potential to flood a river and soak Bay Area cities.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports ( ) Reno National Weather Service forecasters predicted the storm will last from Thursday through Saturday and could potentially flood the Feather River in the Sierra.

Forecaster Scott McGuire says the storm will also bring 1 to 4 feet (0.3 to 1.2 meters) of snow, an unusual amount for the Sierra in April. He says it will be the biggest storm the Sierra has seen in April in a decade.

San Francisco and Oakland can expect 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 centimeters) of rain, which Monterey National Weather Service forecaster Steve Anderson says is normal for this time of year.
