POWAY, Calif. (AP) - A San Diego County couple who allegedly hoarded 169 dogs in filthy conditions has been charged with animal cruelty and neglect.

Prosecutors on Tuesday announced felony charges against 62-year-old Christine Calvert and 73-year-old Mark Vattimo of Poway.

More than a month ago, authorities found 123 Yorkshire terriers and Yorkie mixes at the couple's filthy, mouse-infested home and at a second location. Many had ear and skin infections or bad teeth. One was missing part of a leg.

Authorities say Calvert and 46 more dogs were found Friday in a motorhome in Primm, Nevada. She waived extradition on Tuesday and will be returned to California.

Vattimo was arrested Saturday and is free on bail. His phone number couldn't be found.

The San Diego Union-Tribune says his lawyer declined comment.
