A plane that took off in Truckee and was headed to Petaluma was reported missing on Tuesday.
The Civil Air Patrol California Wing air crew began assisted the Sierra County Sheriff's Office in searching for the missing Socata, that has two people on board.
The Socata TB-20 Trinidad left the Truckee-Tahoe Airport just before 4 p.m. on Monday. Family members reported the aircraft overdue after the plane did not arrive at the Petaluma Municipal Airport.
Several search parties have been launched to search for the air craft.
