A woman was found shot to death in a Lincoln garage Wednesday, and a suspect in the case apparently killed himself following a police chase, according to police.
Lincoln police received calls related to shots fired around 8 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the woman in the garage. It appeared she had been shot in the upper body, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
After fleeing from the scene, the suspect's vehicle was located eastbound on I-80 in Placer County. When officials tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect continued to flee, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
Spike strips were later deployed in an effort to safely stop the suspect's vehicle and some of the vehicle’s tires were disabled, bringing the vehicle to a stop on I-80, west of Hirschdale Road, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
When officers approached the vehicle, the driver was suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and later died, officials said.
Police are trying to determine any relationship between the victim and the suspect. It is not believed to be a random act of violence.
