Ceres police arrested a man Saturday who they say stabbed his father several times, including once in the heart.

Police officers responded to reports of a man stabbed inside a home in the 1000 block of Sun Meadow Dr. According to officials, the man was allegedly stabbed by his son, 27-year-old Carlos Macias, who fled the scene.

The unidentified victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed several times including a "pierced heart." He is in critical but stable condition.

Police said they were tipped off Saturday night that Macias returned to the home where the stabbing occurred. Officers arrested Macias without incident and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on attempted murder charges.
