Delta flight heads back to Sacramento after hitting a bird

A Delta Airlines flight headed to Salt Lake City Monday morning turned back around to Sacramento after hitting a bird and knocking out one of its engines, airport officials confirmed.

A Delta Airlines flight headed to Salt Lake City Monday morning turned back around to Sacramento after hitting a bird and knocking out one of its engines, airport officials confirmed.

The flight, Delta Airlines 1384, took off from Sacramento International Airport around 6 a.m. to Utah and returned shortly after. There were no reported injuries on board.

According to officials, the airport is assessing the damage to the plane to determine whether it can fly again or if passengers will need to take another flight.

Delta Airlines website shows the flight will depart at 6:49 p.m. There has been no word on whether or not Delta is sending another airplane or if the original plane has been repaired for use.
