A domestic violence incident in Cameron Park turned into a stand-off for several hours Thursday morning, and continuing through the night.

Dylan Johnson, 37, barricaded himself inside a home on La Canada, along with a woman and her baby, according to the El Dorado Country Sheriff's Office. Authorities were called to the situation at around 6:15 a.m.

Johnson refused to surrender to deputies and told them he was heavily armed. The sheriff's department said, "Extensive negotiations began with Johnson, which lasted for several hours."

Johnson then fired one of his weapons inside the apartment, according to the department.

After securing the scene, evacuating surrounding apartments, and calling in crisis negotiators and Folsom SWAT, sheriff's officials fired multiple rounds of tear gas into the home. Johnson reportedly responded with multiple gun shots towards deputies for several. The standoff continued into the night.

At 2:10 Friday morning, the department said Johnson moved to an open doorway and began firing directly at SWAT members and their cars. A SWAT officer shot and wounded Johnson due to the immediate threat. At that point, SWAT Teams were able to move in and take Johnson into custody.

He was treated for his injuries at a local trauma center.

"The investigation is currently underway and due to the extensive crime scene, there are still some evacuations in place and some road closures in place," the department said. As protocol, officers involved have been placed on administrative leave and will not be identified at this time.
