Two students have been sent home from a Wilton elementary school with cases of whooping cough.

Parents of students at C.W. Dillard Elementary School were notified of the discovery Monday evening. Both students are in the Fourth Grade but were not in the same class or related, said Elk Grove School District officials.

The entire school was cleaned Tuesday, said EGSD spokeswoman Xanthi Pinkerton.

Pinkerton said the number of whooping cough cases in 2015 and 2016 are lower than 2014.
