The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed that the government ran a program that investigated reports of UFOs until 2012, ABC news reports.
The DOD confirms it spent $22 million on the once secret program funded from 2007 to 2012, according to a report from by the New York Times.
Paul Roberts is a paranormal investigator based in Elk Grove. Since 2006, his group Halo Paranormal Investigations has looked into at least 1,000 sites for ghosts, cryptics and UFOs.
"There's got to be life elsewhere,” Roberts said.
Roberts said it comes at no surprise to him that the government was looking into UFO’s.
For years, there has been mystery surrounding numerous worldwide unexplained sightings in the sky. A video released from 2004 shows Navy pilots off the coast of San Diego who spotted a mysterious black object rotating in the sky.
Reports from 2014 show rings in the sky over Houston, Texas that experts could not explain. In Breckenridge, Colorado the same year, police received multiple reports of shiny triangle shaped objects along the horizon.
And here in Sacramento, a report of a mysterious sighting the witness believes to be a UFO.
So this begs the question, does the government's new admission add merit to UFO sightings?
