Firefighters and felines.
That's the theme of a new 2018 calendar coming out of Stanislaus County. The goal? To raise money for the Cat Network of Stanislaus and animal rescues from the North Bay fires. The calender also lists cats that are looking to be adopted by their 'fur-ever' families.
"There's just a natural connection of firefighters saving cats in trees," said Katie Sauceda, who volunteers with the non-profit and came up with the idea.
Sauceda is a proud cat lady.
"[People] have a certain stigma or a certain idea of what that means," said Sauceda. "[This calendar is] bringing a little sex appeal to the cat community."
It took a few 'paw-leases' and a lot of 'purr-suasion.'
"'Hey, do you wanna be in this calendar, with maybe no shirt and holding a cat?'" laughed Sauceda at the way she had to call firefighters.
But once the yarn ball got rolling for this 'paw-sitive' cause, even the 'I'm allergic to cats' guy came around.
When going through January to December and showing off the guys, Sauceda mentions she wanted a variety of firefighters.
"Something for everyone, you've got some different ages, different body types, little bit of everything," said Sauceda.
