The head-on crash involving two cars led to five people being transported to the hospital, with some suffering major injuries, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened on on E St and Rio Linda Blvd.

Police said that a few good samaritans tried to help the victims while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

The "jaws of life" had to be used to extract one of the victims.

Police say there are no fatalities right now, but some of the people involved did have major injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
