A former 16-year-old student from Gregori High School in Modesto was arrested for having a rifle inside his car in the school's parking lot on Thursday morning, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened at approximately 8 a.m. when deputies responded to the high school after security detained the former student. A parent informed the school of the male sitting inside the car near the drop off area for students.

The security staff was then notified and did find out he had a rifle inside his car, officials said. He did not make any threats against anybody, and his reason for showing up to the campus was to reclaim personal property left in a locker.

The 16-year-old was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, which included unauthorized entry onto school grounds and possession of firearm in school zone.
