Tuesday night saw the first big event, Sir Paul McCarthy, at the Golden 1 Center. It was also the first big test to see how congested downtown will get during a big event at the new stadium.

"We didn't want to worry about parking," Melanie Hughes said.

She took a Lyft from East Sacramento for $12 with her husband. Almost everyone we spoke to after her said the same thing. They did not want to worry about parking.

Some of the concert goers parked in garages blocks away because they did not want to pay the $20-$30 dollars at the arena’s surrounding parking lots. Many of the lots further away had availability.

Season ticket holder, Dennis Driver said he used tonight's event to test the waters for the upcoming season.

"If parking proves to be a headache, then we will just take light rail,” Driver said.
