RIO LINDA — Drive-by shooting in Rio Linda leaves one man dead.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received multiple shots fired calls along the 1100 block of G Street. Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots and a vehicle speeding away from the scene.

The victim was standing outside a residence when he was shot. He was transported to an area hospital before police arrived, where he later died.

SACRAMENTO — A nearly five hour stand-off ends Sunday night with tear gas and an arrest.

Around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, Sacramento County Sheriff's Department responded to the 7600 block of Stockton Boulevard for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the stomach. Before being taken to the hospital, the victim pointed out the suspect, who was later identified as Richard Sharp, 52, who was still on the scene.

When deputies attempted to contact Sharp, he fled the scene in the first of two high-speed chases. Around 10:30 p.m., Sharp surrendered after tear gas was shot into his car. He's been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and a violation of parole.
