SACRAMENTO — Sacramento police are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old woman.

The incident happened just before noon on Saturday, Nov. 26, near the 3300 block of Lanley Way in North Highlands. Upon arrival, police found the victim lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. She was transported to a hospital where she later died.

Police believe the victim was sitting in a parked car with two adult men subjects, one of whom was in possession of a handgun. It is unclear whether the gun went off accidentally or if there was intent to shoot the victim. The victim's identity has not yet been released.

TRUCKEE — The California Highway Patrol in Truckee is advising chain control in certain areas.

With snow falling along the western slope and making its way up and over the crest, CHP is warning drivers of hazardous winter driving conditions.

Chain Control is in effect for SR-20, R2 Long Grave to I-80; I-80 is R2 Donner Lake Road to Drum Forebay in both directions. More portions of the highway could be added later if conditions worsen.

SACRAMENTO — A man is in custody and another man dead after an argument lead to a shooting Saturday afternoon.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, near the intersection of Gloria Drive and Florin Road, officers found a man lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers canvassed the area for evidence and talking to witnesses, which eventually led them to the suspect in a nearby apartment complex.

Police established a perimeter around the apartment building and moments later, the suspect peacefully surrendered. Based on preliminary information, an argument between the victim and the suspect escalated, with the suspect fatally shooting the victim.
