Local bus driver arrested for allegedly abusing 2nd grade special needs student

Vacaville Police have arrested a bus driver for allegedly physically abusing a 2nd grade special needs student.

Vacaville Police have arrested a bus driver for allegedly physically abusing a 2nd grade special needs student.

Kim Klopson, 64, was a school bus driver for the Vacaville Unified School Distict, when police say she assaulted a 2nd grader special needs student who did not want to get off the bus.

According to police, Klopson was dropping off a group of special needs students when the Browns Valley 2nd grader refused to get off the bus. Klopson allegedly grabbed the young girl and forced her off the bus, resulting in abrasions.

A VUSD employee reported the incident to the principal on February 6, who immediately investigated. Klopson was arrested about a week later.

“There are no words to explain why anyone would mistreat a child in that way. No child should ever experience something like that, especially at school," said VUSD Superintendent Jane Shamieh. "We immediately initiated police involvement and have been in full support of the investigation. We hope that the consequences and charges filed reach the fullest extent of the law. At this time, we are turning our attention toward the child, the child’s family and all of our families to ensure we are meeting their needs and addressing their valid concerns.”

Klopson has been charged with felony child abuse and booked into the Solano County Jail.
