Richard Mondragon, 51, was charged with murder for his involvement in a stabbing this morning, according to Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
On Friday morning, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the sheriff's department received a call about a stabbing that happened in the 4400 block of 37th Avenue in South Sacramento.
The 48-year-old victim was unresponsive, when police arrived, after suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Mondragon and the unidentified victim are said to have known each other, according to police. An argument is said to have sparked prior to the incident.
According to police they performed life-saving measures, but when Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the scene they pronounced the man dead.
Mondragon was reportedly seen leaving the scene on a bicycle, and after searching the area for him, the police eventually located his whereabouts.
He was charged for murder and violation of his Post Release Community Supervision. He's not eligible for bail.
The scheduled arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court will be on March 21.
