Modesto police arrested a woman Monday after she allegedly used her finger to try to carjack someone as the victim was driving.

The attempted carjacking happened just after 5 a.m. near a Safeway at McHenry, when the suspect, later identified as Eva Centeno, 32, jumped in front of a moving car, police said.

The victim stopped the car to avoid hitting Centeno, police said. Centeno then moved around to the driver-side door and allegedly began punching the victim.

Obliging the suspect, the victim slid over to the passenger-side seat. It was at this point the suspect pointed her finger at the victim like a gun, police said.

The victim then began screaming, at which point the suspect ran from the scene.

Police later arrived and found the suspect still at the Safeway parking lot. Centeno was then arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted carjacking.
