A petition to oust a Baylor Football Wide Receiver had received more than 100,000 signatures Thursday.

A petition to oust a Baylor Football Wide Receiver had received more than 100,000 signatures Thursday.

Ishmael Zamora was caught on camera beating his dog and as a result a petition started last week to have him ‘kicked off’ the football team immediately.

As of 5:41 p.m., the total number of signatures are more than 109,000 inching close to its 110,000 goal.

The petition also states that the misdemeanor charge Zamora received was too lenient and he should be facing felony animal abuse charges.

Baylor Football Head Coach Jim Grobe said Zamora would face disciplinary action, but right now is still practicing with the team.

Lori Fogleman, Asst. Vice President for Media Communications, released the following statement late Thursday afternoon:

"The university takes this matter seriously. The behavior falls short of the character expectations we have for our students. This student has been punished by the legal system and understands he faces further disciplinary action from the athletics department and as a result of the investigation and review of the university’s student disciplinary process."
