A Sacramento police officer was arrested Friday night at a local hotel on drug-related charges after a weeks-long investigation, the Sacramento Police Department announced.
The department received information October 13 that officer Isaac Richard Knutila, 45, was possibly involved in "prostitution-related activity" at a Sacramento-area hotel. After weeks of surveillance investigating, detectives issued a search warrant of Knutila and his property.
At the time of his arrest, police say Knutila was in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and over an ounce of marijuana as well as his police-issued gun.
Knutila, a 16-year veteran, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on multiple drug charges and for possession of a controlled substance while armed.
Police say Knutila is on administrative leave pending his termination from the department.
