Sacramento County Coroner's Office officials are reporting the official death toll has risen to nine in cases related to people overdosing on fentanyl pills disguised as painkillers.

As of Friday morning, 36 opioid-related overdoses have been reported, according to Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services.

Officials note beyond the eight reported opioid-related deaths in Sacramento County, Yolo County officials have recorded one death.

Those who have overdosed vary in age from 18 to 59, and are evenly split between men and women. No other details about the victim has been officially released at this time.

Public Health officials advise people not to take prescription-type pills that are not prescribed by and obtained from one's own physician and/or pharmacy.
