A fatal accident on Interstate 5 at Garden Highway stalled traffic on Friday night.
The California Highway Patrol said a 2016 white Ford Focus was traveling north when a 54-year-old man ran in front of the car. The driver hit the breaks, but was not able to stop before hitting the man.
The victim was killed upon impact, according to CHP.
A second car, a 2005 gray Mazda 3, also hit the victim.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not a factor with the drivers involved with the accident, but it has not been determined if they were factors with the victim.
The name of the victim has not been released.
