A man was fatally shot in South Sacramento Tuesday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., sheriff's deputies received a report of a man who was shot in the 3000 block of 52nd Avenue.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man in his early 40's suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso outside of an auto body shop where he worked. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives received initial information that an argument and physical altercation occurred prior to the victim being fatally shot, according to sheriff's deputies.

There is no suspect description at this time.
