Sacramento police are investigating a stabbing death in South Sacramento Monday afternoon, police said.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Sacramento Police Department officers were called to the 7700 block of Vallecitos Way on a report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult male in his 60’s laying in the roadway. He appeared to have an stab wound to his torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

After police located the man at the scene, a male in his 20’s arrived at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident, police said. He was detained without the incident at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation shows that the two men were in a verbal argument that led to a physical fight. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed with a knife.

The identities of the two men have not been released.
