High winds brought down several trees across the Sacramento area on Saturday – including a massive one in East Sacramento at the intersection of 26th and L Street.
A spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department tells ABC10 that two people were at a bus stop on L St., when the tree toppled next to them. They were taken to the hospital with minor head injuries, but are expected to be ok.
“When something like this comes down, you just don't think anybody is going to be under it," said Ron Masters, who was walking near the area where the tree fell.
In Fair Oaks, a tree smashed three cars at a neighborhood near Madison Avenue and East Knoll Drive.
“We heard the winds this morning when we woke up, so we knew they were strong but I never thought that this tree would fall down,” said Jennifer Hippensteal.
Hippensteal says she’s concerned to see the same kind of damage happen again.
“I would suggest that people take the time to look at the large trees in front of their homes and have the landlords trim them," she adds.
