A Sacramento staple celebrated 70 years on Wednesday.
Relles Florist was opened by Ross Relles in 1946. While the area around the shop has changed in the decades since, Relles Florist has strived to maintain the same spirit.
“When the depression of 2008 came, it made it really tough,” Jim Relles said. Jim is Ross’s son, and he now runs the business alongside his sister JoAnn Relles Bradley. “We still want to do our personal touch, and I think that’s what made us successful,” he added.
Since Relles Florist is in the business of brightening people’s days, the shop celebrated its 70th anniversary by handing out two free bouquets: one for each passerby, and one for him or her to pass out to somebody else.
Melinda Zak happily received her two free bouquets. “To see someone stay around – especially a florist? For 70 years? They do it right,” she said.
