On Sunday, Sacramento Firefighter Mike Thawley rescued a sick puppy, left alone and tied up during a rainstorm. Now, the firefighter is fostering the pup, named Chunk, along with his family.

After finding Chunk, Thawley brought the pup to Front Street Animal Shelter, where she would eventually inherit her name.

Thawley returned to Front Street Thursday with his family and found Chunk, where she had been rehabilitating since her rescue.

“Although Mike denies it, it appears by a vote of four to one that Chunk might wind up with a permanent home!” wrote Sacramento Fire Department officials.

Video from the reunion was quickly shared via the department’s Facebook page, showing Thawley, his family and Chunk leaving the shelter, presumably heading for the puppy’s forever home.
