Anthony Silva was arrested on Sunday at San Francisco International Airport for charges related to financial crimes, according to Silva's attorney, Allen Sawyer.
The arrest warrant for the former Stockton mayor was issued by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office on Thursday. Silva was taken into custody as he was returning from a vacation in Colombia.
Sawyer says the investigation is related to financial crimes. Silva faces charges of embezzlement, misappropriation of public funds and grand theft.
Along with Silva's arrest, a search warrant was issued for his home, and for the Stockton Kids Club.
Silva was arrested in 2016 on charges of recording confidential communications, a felony charge, on or around Aug. 7, 2015. He also faced misdemeanor charges of contributing to a delinquency of a minor, providing alcohol to someone under the age of 21 and cruelty to a child by endangering health. His felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor in October.
