Mother and infant rescued, 21 arrested in human trafficking operation in Stockton

A mother and her infant child were rescued and 21 others arrested for a human trafficking operation in Stockton Friday night.

According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, over 20 people were arrested with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies and social service agencies at a local hotel. The agencies teamed up to take down the operation and put the human traffickers behind bars.

Of the 21 people arrested, 5 have previously been booked on charges related to pimping and pandering.

Those arrested now face charges including prostitution, child endangerment, narcotics violations, and outstanding warrants.

"A combined effort with law enforcement, victim services, and business owners gives us the opportunity to more effectively combat the growing problem of human trafficking," wrote the Sheriff's Department on a Facebook post. "Saving one person makes an operation like this a great success."
