An attorney for former Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva says an arrest warrant has been issued by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office.

Mark Reichel, who is representing Silva in a separate case, says two search warrants have also been issued, for the Stockton Kids Club and for Silva's residence.

A spokesman for the district attorney's office confirmed the search warrant for the Stockton Kids Club, and the arrest warrant for the former mayor's home.

Silva's lawyer Allen Sawyer says the investigation is related to financial crimes. No other details were given.

Silva is believed to be out of the country on vacation. We reached to people on how they felt about the former mayor.

"We just moved here about a year ago," said Jason Sharp, "We used to live in Lodi so we just heard all the stuff in the news."

"I didn't care for him," said Lindsay Olivas, Stockton resident. "I wouldn't vote for him," said Rudy Olivas, Stockton resident.

However Silva has a lot of supporters. his Facebook definitely shows it.

"He has a lot of integrity," said Samantha Mendoza, Stockton resident. "He says what he says and he means it and he has our back."

Silva was arrested in 2016 on charges of recording confidential communications, a felony charge, on or around Aug. 7, 2015. He also faced misdemeanor charges of contributing to a delinquency of a minor, providing alcohol to someone under the age of 21 and cruelty to a child by endangering health. His felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor in October.
