Stockton Unified School District Board of Trustees met behind closed doors Monday night regarding what to do about Superintendent Dr. Eliseo Davalos.

The trustees continued their discussion Tuesday night again behind closed doors before their board meeting that began at 6 p.m.

Tuesday evening, Davalos submitted his resignation and the board accepted on a 5-2 vote.

However, district spokesperson Dianne Barth said in an email Tuesday afternoon to ABC10

"I do not expect an announcement" tonight.

Davalos took family leave in August following the death of his wife who was battling Leukemia.

His home is in Southern California.

Since that time, Assistant Superintendent of Education Services Dan Wright has been acting superintendent.

Davalos was raised in Stockton and a unanimous pick of the school board in May of 2016.
