A 34-year-old woman and two young children were killed after two cars collided in Stockton Saturday night.

According to CHP, a 2008 Mercedes, driven by a 55-year-old Woodbridge man, was speeding eastbound on SR-12. A 35-year-old Lodi man was speeding in a 2004 Mercury and came up behind the Mercedes.

The man driving the Mercury attempted to pass the Mercedes on the right shoulder when his wheels left the pavement. He corrected back to the left lane and struck the right front corner of the Mercedes, forcing it to the left and into the temporary concrete jersey wall.

The Mercury struck also struck the wall.

Due to how fast the cars were going, both continued easterly out of control.

The Mercedes went south of the roadway, down into an embankment and came to a rest on its wheels in a ditch.

The Mercury, out of control, ran off the roadway and overturned several times before landing upside down in a ditch.

The driver of the Mercedes was able to get out of the vehicle, as was the driver of the Mercury and his 10-year-old son, who sustained major injuries.

Three other passengers in the Mercury, a 34-year-old woman, a 6-year-old boy, and a 3-year-old boy died.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash.
