SACRAMENTO - Paige VanZant will headline her first UFC card when she fights Michelle Waterson in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Dec. 17 at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center.
The UFC strawweight, nicknamed "12 Gauge Paige" resides in Sacramento and trains with Urijah Faber's camp "Team Alpha Male. She has won four of her last five fights and is coming off a thrilling knockout of Bec Rawlings in Vancouver last August.
The 22-year-old VanZant (7-2, 4-1 UFC) is the eighth ranked strawweight, but is considered one of the sport's brightest stars. Her popularity took her to the dance floor last March, where she competed on "Dancing With the Stars" where she finished in the competition.
Waterson (13-4, 1-0 UFC), nicknamed "The Karate Hottie," made her UFC debut in the Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale last July, where she defeated Angela Magana in the third round via submission by rear-naked choke. She will return to the octagon after a 17-month layoff after injuries forced her to pull out of her last two scheduled fights.
Last week, the UFC announced the upcoming bout between Sage Northcutt and Mickey Gall as the first fight of the Sacramento card. Additional fights will be announced by the UFC in the near future.
Tickets go on sale Oct. 28.
