The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department says a missing 12-year-old boy with autism has been found safe in Sacramento.

Nate Lasater went missing from his residence in the 5800 block of San Marcos Way in North Highlands around 10 a.m. Sunday before being found safe near railroad tracks.

The 12-year-old has high functioning autism and needs medication for his medical condition, the sheriff’s department said. In the past, he has been known to hitchhike, board a freight train, and has been located as far away as Modesto.
