Thanks to BART employees, a missing 15-year-old girl from the East Bay was found safe Wednesday, according to BART officials.
Station Agent Rachelle “Mimi” Powe, who had been working for BART for 22 years, was giving a foreworker trainee a tour of the Fremont Station on Wednesday when she noticed a teenage girl who was in distress, officials say.
The girl approached Powe and told her that she needed to get home. Powe and the foreworker trainee took the girl to the station’s break room, where they fed her and had her remove her wet hoodie as she was extremely cold and shivering.
The BART employee was able to contact the 15-year-old’s father and ultimately her entire family came to the Fremont Station to pick her up.
The girl had been missing for over 24 hours, officials say, but is now safe with her family.
