Beyoncé latest pop star to perform at CMAs
"Came into this world daddy's little girl, and daddy made a soldier out of me," Beyoncé sings on Lemonade's country standout, Daddy Lessons.
And Bey just made soldiers out of the entire CMA Awards audience, performing Daddy Lessons in a blockbuster crossover performance, with three very special guests — the Dixie Chicks.
And thankfully for fans, Beyonce and the Dixie Chicks also recorded their studio version of Daddy Lessons, making the extra-twangy track available for streaming after their performance.
After leaving the stage, Bey showed off her gown in the press room, skipping the country music tradition of big hair in favor of puffed-out shoulders.
Hours before the show, rumors spread that the singer would be performing before CMAs' co-host Brad Paisley later confirmed Beyoncé's appearance in a Twitter post. "Frequently, country crosses over," Paisley wrote. "But every now & then a major pop superstar wants to be a part of this too. Welcome, Beyoncé."
