The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department made two arrests in December as a part of a crackdown on package thefts, the Department announced Sunday.
The Department's Property Crimes Team had deployed bait items into Sacramento neighborhoods during an operation conducted to prevent recent package theft, authorities said. This operation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Jason Dobre for theft-related crimes.
Deputies also arrested 22-year-old Charles Demar on theft-related charges after a neighbor witnessed him take a package from a front porch of a residence, authorities said.
Authorities said the arrest "would not have been possible if a member of our community did not get involved and provide accurate, timely information."
