The Sacramento Kings have a new arena and some rising stars.
Now, they want to host the NBA All-Star Game.
Outside the Golden 1 Arena Thursday morning, the Sacramento Kings announced their bid to host an NBA All-Star game for either the 2022 or 2023 season.
The bid includes a partnership with the city of Sacramento to include not just the arena, but also the city’s convention center complex, The Railyards, and UC Davis. These are where All-Star celebrations will be held.
"Sacramento is a shining beacon of creativity, diversity, and opportunity– a perfect setting for basketball’s biggest celebration of sport and community," Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg said at the press conference. "Together with our partners at the Kings and throughout the community, we are thrilled to present a bid that will show the world that Sacramento is truly a great American city."
