Flooding closes portion of Hwy 99 in San Joaquin County

Caltrans has temporarily closed both directions of Highway 99 between Peltier Road north of Acampo to Turner Road.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A portion of Highway 99 in San Joaquin County was closed due to flooding Monday afternoon.

Caltrans said both directions of Highway 99 from Peltier Road north of Acampo to Turner Road have been temporarily closed, and it's not known when the road will reopen. 

Officials said drivers are advised to avoid travel due to weather conditions causing dangerous travel conditions.

A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol told ABC10 that several cars, about three to four, broke through the closure heading northbound on Highway 99 around 6:45 p.m. They were eventually cleared from the roadway.
