Can you believe Linus van Pelt has been waiting for The Great Pumpkin for half a century?
The Peanuts' special first aired on Oct. 27, 1966. Good grief!
Across the country, farms are celebrating the 50th Anniversary Special for “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” which airs this year on ABC on October 19th and again on the 28th.
More than 90 farms are creating custom-designed Peanuts-themed mazes during the Halloween season in honor of the milestone.
"The Great Pumpkin and cornfield mazes are two of the world’s greatest fall traditions, eagerly anticipated by fans every single year," said Jill Schulz, daughter of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, "and we’re so excited to bring them together for this landmark anniversary."
The mazes will reach more than 3.5 million visitors and are crafted in collaboration with the world's largest cornfield maze consulting and design group, The MAiZE, Inc. out of Utah.
