SACRAMENTO - A just-married couple chose one of the hottest days of the year to have their picture taken outside the State Capitol.
With the bride in her long wedding gown and the groom in his Army dress blue uniform, the couple had just been pronounced husband and wife in a civil ceremony at the Sacramento County Clerk's office.
Then the couple and their entourage headed over to the State Capitol for the photo shoot as the temperature was climbing past 102 degrees.
"It's hotter than H-E-double hockey sticks," remarked the bride.
Her sister said the bride had no one to blame but herself.
"I think it was [her idea]. You know: bride, it's whatever she wants. You know how that goes!"
The groom showed a touch of class following the photo shoot by opening a large umbrella to get his new wife out of the direct sunlight.
It was so hot, the News10 reporter who stumbled upon the scene while covering another Capitol event forgot to ask the couple if they had plans for a honeymoon.
