Teacher of the Month for July 2014 - Susan Swift

Just by listening to Susan Swift in the classroom, you can hear it in her voice and see it on her face, the love she has for her students.

Swift has been teaching preschool to 3- to 6- year-old students with disabilities at the Ralph Richardson Center for nearly 30 years.

During that time span, she has enjoyed molding young minds every step of the way.

"It's wonderful to watch them improve on their skills," Swift said. "They are like little sponges and they progress rapidly."

Swift said her goal was give students the best education possible no matter the disability, and she does it in a caring loving way.

"She just does an excellent job of loving the children and giving them support loving the families," co-worker Charlene Grady said.

After teaching multiple grade levels for 40 years, Swift is set to retire. She said she hopes to spend more time on her ranch and traveling in retirement.
