Germany's Phillip Lüpke picked a great time to download the song"Monkey Drums" (Goksel Vancin Remix)by Chase Buch from Apple's iTunes store. It happened to be the 25 billionth song purchased.

Apple announced its digital media service has topped 25 billion song downloads since launching in 2003. Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president for Apple's Internet software and services, says iTunes averages more than 15,000 song downloads per minute.

"We are grateful to our users whose passion for music over the past 10 years has made iTunes the number one music retailer in the world," said Cue in a statement.

Along with songs, iTunes also lets users download a variety of movies and television shows since making its debut.

As for Lüpke, his timely download netted him an iTunes Gift Card worth 10,000 euro (roughly $13,000).
